And this week, the city is raising a glass to that history.
The Martini Expo kicks off in Chicago today, bringing a full week of special cocktails, food pairings, events and some of the city's best bartenders together to celebrate one of the world's most iconic drinks.
We love finding another excuse to highlight the food, hospitality and nightlife that make working in and around River North a little more interesting.
